What is the Cortland Challenge?

The Cortland Challenge is SUNY Cortland's annual giving event. This year, it is being held on April 15, 2026, ending at 11:59 p.m. (EDT). This event is your chance to support the areas of Cortland that mean the most to you, have hundreds of SUNY Cortland alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends of the university join you, and help unlock more than $300,000 in matching gifts.

How can I make my gift?

You can make your gift online via credit card, bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay (in Chrome) or Apple Pay (in Safari). You can also call our office at 607-753-5572 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m to make your gift.

Is there a minimum gift amount?

Yes, there is a minimum gift amount of $5 for the Cortland Challenge.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. You will receive an email confirmation soon after you make your gift online stating that your contribution is tax-deductible.

Can I choose to give to any area at Cortland?

Yes. Gifts of all sizes and to any designation count in the Cortland Challenge.

What if I don't see my preferred area to designate my gift?

If the designation that you're looking for is not in the drop-down, you can type into the designation field to search for it. If you still are not able to find it, call our office at 607-753-5572 for assistance.

How can I help support the Cortland Challenge?

Making a gift is the simplest way to support the Cortland Challenge. You can also sign up as a volunteer advocate and help spread the word about the event to your networks through email and social media.
