Giving Day is a celebration of all the unique elements that come together to make up The New School: innovative student support systems, platforms for important voices in art and politics, and so much more.
It's also an opportunity to celebrate the birthday of our mascot, Gnarls Narwhal. While a fairly recent addition to The New School's history, Gnarls has become a beloved member of the community. They are our "sea mammal-in-residence," serving as an advocate for students and all of their scholarly and extracurricular activities.
Giving Day is an opportunity to show what can be achieved when the New School community comes together behind a shared goal. Every contribution matters!
Anyone can participate in Giving Day by making a gift of any amount prior to or on March 6, 2026.
Whether you're a student, alum, faculty member, or donor, it's a day for all of us to come together—across different departments, backgrounds, and experiences—to support the parts of the university that each of us treasure most.
