What are Giving Days?

Typically, Giving Days are a twenty-four hour “digital pep rallies” designed to increase donor participation. Giving Days help to capture donor affinity and ignite pride by inspiring constituents to share what they love about NIU!

Why is NIU doing Huskies United?

Beginning at 12 p.m. on April 1 and running for 24 hours, Huskies United will focus on moving NIU forward by raising support for the University’s strategic funding priorities. Donor support advances these priorities and enables NIU to be an agent for change and an engine for social mobility.

Why should someone give on this particular day?

While any day is a great day to give back to students, this online giving day is special. Several generous donors have offered up matching and challenge funds for gifts made during this 24-hour period, meaning the impact of your gift will be magnified!

Is there a minimum amount someone can donate?

For gifts processed through our Huskies United platform, the minimum gift amount is $5, which will help keep NIU moving forward together.

What are the ways that I can make my donation?

Gift can be made via the Huskies United website at dog.niu.edu. Gifts can also be made over the phone by calling 877-GIV-2-NIU. 

Can I pay with my DAF or QCD?

Yes, DAF pay is available on the Huskies United giving form. Simply choose your gift amount and designations, then click 'DAF Pay' in your payment options. Use the widget to log in to your DAF account to process your gift never leaving the Huskies United website.

For QCDs, donors have two primary options:

1. Your Financial Institution sends NIUF a check or EFT for the QCD amount.
2. Your Financial Institution sends you, the donor, a check to send to NIUF.

Please make sure to note that this is for Huskies United to be included in the totals.

How can I get involved?

By sharing our social media posts, not only will your friends be able to hear about Huskies United, but they might donate as well! Make sure you use #HuskiesUnited when you share your stories about NIU, so we can see them as well!

Are gifts tax-deductible?

Absolutely! Upon successful completion of your gift, you will receive an email with a receipt for your tax purposes.
