General FAQ:

How can I make a gift?

Click “Give Now” at the very top of the page.

Give by Phone: Call 616.395.7775.

Don't want to give online or by phone? You can still participate and make an impact. Mail your check to Hope College, Philanthropy Services, P.O. Box 9000, Holland, MI 49422-9000. If you want the gift to count towards our Day of Giving totals, write the fund of your choice and "Day of Giving 2026" on the memo line.

Why should I participate?

Increasing costs and inflation have impacted our students, their families and Hope resources. Your support is more critical now than ever. It provides crucial resources that nurture the college’s growth and success as a world-class institution. Your gift supports academics, research, scholarships, extracurricular activities and service to others, which takes the collective, annual support of alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty and staff.

How do I participate in the Greek Life or Orange and Blue Challenges?

While making your gift, you'll be asked to “Tell us about yourself.” In this section, you can select your status as an alumni, parent, faculty/staff, etc. Select all that apply to you. To participate in the Greek Life Challenge, select the “Participate in the Greek Life Challenge” option. Once you’ve selected this option, you can pick your fraternity or sorority. To participate in the ONE Team Challenge, select "Participate in the Orange & Blue Challenge." Then, simply select the team you cheer for. You can choose to participate in multiple challenges in this section. You are not limited to just one.

Can I make a gift to support a particular athletic team?

No. In order to help us stay in compliance with NCAA and federal equity guidelines, please support the Orange and Blue Fund. This fund supports enhancements for all athletics teams and programming that promote academic success, competitive excellence and transformational experiences.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Contributions to support Hope College are tax-deductible, as allowed by law. You will receive a receipt for your donation.

Can my gift qualify for more than one match or challenge?

Yes! Try to find the gift or gifts that trigger the highest number of matches or challenges. There is NO limit!

How do I designate my gift to more than one department or program?

You can easily make a gift to multiple funds, departments or programs. Follow the steps below to ensure your gifts land right where you want them. You have two options.

OPTION ONE: Select the amount you’d like to give to Hope College. Find the first fund you’d like to select. Click the plus symbol to the right of the fund’s name and then search for the second fund (and so on). Click the plus symbol next to the second fund’s name. You’ll now need to split your gift in the amount field. Please note that the full amount you originally selected will appear in the first fund you selected. You will need to manually adjust your desired split.

OPTION TWO: While making a gift, select the “Other (Leave Comment)” fund in the search bar. In the comment section, simply describe how you want to split your gift.

What if I can't find the fund I want to support?

Click "Give Now" on the home page and type in a keyword to help you find the fund (ex. “Smith” for the John Smith Scholarship or “Chemistry” for the Department of Chemistry).

Still not finding your fund? Double-check that what you’re typing into the search bar is letter perfect. For example, typing “Smith” for the John Smythe Scholarship Fund will produce no results.

Still not finding your fund? Simply select the “Other (Leave Comment)” fund and describe the fund you’d like to give to in the comment section.

If you still can’t find your fund, call our office at 616.395.7775. We’ll be happy to help!

What is PayPal/Venmo?

PayPal and Venmo are secure mobile wallet options that can be linked to your bank account. You do not need to use PayPal or Venmo to make your gift. Simply select “Credit/Debit” if you’d prefer not to use PayPal or Venmo. You can still give via debit or credit card this way.
