EcoReps
📢 Outreach Events: EcoReps host dozens of events throughout the year ranging from clothing mending workshops to film screenings and flea markets. Increased funding for outreach events will go to speaker honoraria, transportation costs, event supplies and other expenses to engage broader audiences.
♻️ North Campus Resource Hub: Walker Lounge serves as a student-run reuse space through the Book Room and Free Room, which provide affordable books and free clothing, school supplies, and dorm essentials. Expanding the space to offer checkout programs for drying racks, event and cleaning supplies, and cookware will increase students’ access to free, zero-waste resources and promote sustainable habits.
Green Bikes
🚲 Secure bicycle parking and locks: Providing secure bicycle racks and cut-resistant locks significantly reduces bicycle theft, meaning more students can reliably keep a bicycle on campus.
⚙️ Bicycle tools and parts: Being able to repair and maintain bicycles increases the size of the Green Bikes rental fleet, meaning more students can receive a free rental bike.
🔧 Public bicycle repair stations: The Green Bikes shop is not always open, but providing bike users with access to repair stations and educational content enables them to make basic repairs on their own.
Carbon Neutrality
☁️ CN2030 Student Grants: Student-initiated projects through the President’s Sustainability Fund have reduced greenhouse gas emissions through behavioral and operational changes. However, not every worthy idea can be actualized due to funding constraints. Building a carbon neutrality student project fund will increase engagement with the College’s CN2030 goal and empower our graduates to create a legacy of climate action.
☀️ On-Campus Renewable Energy: Only 1% of Pomona’s energy is produced by on-campus renewables. Adding new solar arrays and upgrading existing systems will reduce Pomona’s dependence on expensive and GHG-emitting grid electricity.
⚡️ Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: The number of campus EV users has doubled since 2020. Expanding Pomona’s EV charging stations makes low-emission commuting more viable and reduces drivers’ dependence on fossil fuels.
