What is TEALstarter? 

TEALstarter is UNCW's crowdfunding platform. It provides student organizations and campus groups with the unique opportunity to raise money to cover costs such as travel to competitions, new uniforms, or upgraded equipment. One important perk: TEALstarter projects hosted on our crowdfunding site can receive donations without having to pay fees. Projects typically raise between $500-$2,500 in funds to support their organization, club or group. 

Who can apply and how are TEALstarter projects selected? 

Any active student organization and campus groups may apply to TEALstarter. Projects are selected by a committee of students, faculty and staff based on: their fundraising need, the potential benefit to the UNCW community, and the direct impact on their student experience at UNCW. 

Where does my gift go? 

100% of the money raised—whether or not the goal is met—goes directly to the project’s designated fund. As a bonus, donations made to crowdfunding projects count as tax-deductible gifts in support of UNC Wilmington. 

Is my payment secure? 

Yes. All payments will be processed using a secure online giving form. The information collected through the crowdfunding site will be used only by UNC Wilmington. You can now use your mobile wallet to complete your donation. 

Will my gift be tax-deductible? 

Yes, your gift is tax-deductible, and a receipt for tax purposes, according to law, will be emailed as soon as the transaction is completed. To learn more about tax deductions on your gift to UNCW, please click here. 

Can I make a recurring gift through TEALstarter? 

No, all gifts made through the TEALstarter Crowdfunding site will be processed as one-time gifts. However, you can always set up a recurring gift to support these student organizations or club sports at https://giving.uncw.edu/.  

Can I donate goods or services?
