Why do I need to make a gift to The Summit Fund? Doesn’t my tuition payment cover costs?  

The Summit Fund bridges the gap, ensuring that each student receives the full benefit of a Summit experience. As our most important source of unrestricted annual support, The Summit Fund provides immediate, flexible resources that directly impact our students and faculty. From enriching academic programs and the arts to athletics, professional development for our dedicated faculty and staff, and essential financial aid - every aspect of life at The Summit is touched by the Summit Fund. 

Why not raise tuition to cover actual costs?  

Keeping tuition as accessible as possible helps maintain a diverse and vibrant school community. Raising tuition to cover all costs could make a Summit education out of reach for many families. Gifts to The Summit Fund help keep tuition levels comparable to other independent schools in the area.  

Why is 100% parent participation important?  

We strive to reach 100% parent participation in the Summit Fund as it is a powerful statement of community support. It demonstrates to outside supporters – like foundations and donors – that Summit families believe in and are invested in the school’s mission. Participation at any level makes a difference and helps open doors to additional funding opportunities.  

Will I be recognized for my Summit Fund gift?  

Yes! Every donor who gives to The Summit Fund is recognized in the Annual Impact Report, unless they choose to give anonymously, and receives an acknowledgement letter from The Summit. Donors who make a gift at the Rich Wilson Leaders of Character levels will also be invited to special events in recognition of their support.   

Is my gift tax-deductible?  

Yes, gifts to The Summit Fund are 100% tax-deductible. You will receive a gift acknowledgment which you can use for tax purposes. Please consult your tax adviser about the tax deductibility of your gift.
