Jack is a 9-year-old boy who almost wasn’t with us today. While undiagnosed PDE wreaked havoc on his newborn and infant brain + body, his family was told to prepare for the worst. Once properly diagnosed with Pyridoxine Dependent Epilepsy at 6 months old, Jack began to improve. Unfortunately, there was much damage done in the first several months of his life and Jack would have to work incredibly hard to overcome developmental delays. Jack is a happy kid today, but suffers from extreme medical trauma as his life has consisted of many hospitalizations. His greatest wish is to be like other kids, without the need for extreme protein restrictions, yucky formula & medications, AND no more doctor’s appointments. While we can’t make that latter dream come true, we do wish for a better treatment (or a cure) for Jack and all those living with PDE.
