What is the purpose of the Virginia Softball Bicentennial Fund?
This scholarship endowment provides sustained, long-term support, ensuring the softball student-athletes receive scholarship funds for generations to come.
How much of softball's scholarship bill is currently covered by endowments?
Currently, 8% of softball's annual scholarship bill is covered by an endowment distribution. The remaining amount is covered by a combination of yearly donations to the Annual Fund and Friends of Softball.
What would it take to fully endow softball's current offering of 12 scholarships?
The softball program would require $14.9 million to fully endow the entirety of available scholarship rewards.
How will my gift be used?
When a gift is made to the Virginia Softball Bicentennial Fund, the Virginia Athletics Foundation invests it with the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO) for long-term growth. The earnings generated by the investments are used to support the scholarship needs of the program.
