In the current BOC model, as many as twelve trips depart from campus each weekend to explore nearby and far-flung destinations across Maine and New Hampshire, with driving times of two to three hours each way for many of the trips. The Carrabassett Valley is at the center of this region, with most BOC trips utilizing the natural resources located from fifteen minutes to an hour from that area. The combination of riverfront access and the proximity of this property to Sugarloaf and Saddleback ski areas, Flagstaff Lake, the Appalachian Trail, the Bigelow Range, and other destinations where the BOC often send trips making this an exceptionally good location for Bowdoin outdoor programs.
