GIVING DAY FAQ
WHEN IS GIVING DAY?
This year's Giving Day starts at midnight Eastern Time on Thursday, March 6, 2025 and runs through midnight Pacific Time (3 AM Eastern) on Friday, March 7, 2025.
WHAT IS GIVING DAY?
Giving Day is a day to come together to support Springfield College students and the programs and initiatives that mean the most to us.
Your gift, your choice.
WHAT MAKES MY GIFT ON GIVING DAY SO SPECIAL?
On Giving Day, your gift has an even greater impact! With matching and challenge gifts throughout the day, your gift will help us unlock generous offers from other alumni, parents, and friends of the College.
Matching Gift: an offer to match donor gifts either $X per donor or $X per $1 donated.
Challenge Gift: a donor will give $X if Y number of donors give or the donor will give $X if $Y is donated.
Not only does your Giving Day gift count in the overall Annual Giving totals for the year, your contribution this year will also contribute to your class totals (for alumni).
Alumni donors also help increase our donor participation number which is important to the College when applying for grant funding and sharing with prospective students.
WHY DOES GIVING DAY END AT 3 AM?
Giving Day ends at 3 AM Eastern because that's Midnight Pacific time for our West Coast friends!
HOW DO I GIVE?
The quickest and easiest way to make your gift on Giving Day is online. Here you can use all major credit cards as well as Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
If you prefer to speak with someone in the Development Office to make your gift, please call us at 1-800-622-6072 between the hours of 6 AM and 10:00 PM Eastern on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
For gifts of all other types (see below), your gift must be received by Thursday, March 6 in order to count for Giving Day.
WHAT IF I WANT TO MAIL A CHECK OR GIVE BY STOCK?
To make a gift by any means other than online or by phone, your gift must be RECEIVED by Giving Day, Thursday March 6, 2025. If you have initiated the process, but aren’t sure it will arrive by that date, please call the Office of Development (800) 622-6072 and we will add your gift to the Giving Day totals manually.

DO YOU ACCEPT VENMO, PAYPAL, APPLE PAY ETC.?
Yes! Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay are all options when making your Giving Day gift.
To make your gift by Venmo, click on 'Make a Gift' on the Giving Day page (springfield.edu/givingday). At the bottom of the first page you will find the Venmo option. Once you click the Venmo logo, it will take you to your Venmo account to authorize payment.
WHAT CAN I GIVE TO?
The short answer is… almost anything you want? On Giving Day we encourage gifts to the Springfield College Fund which addresses the greatest needs of the College, but you can give to the area of the College that means the most to you.
Don’t know what to give to? Start typing a key word like the name of a team or a scholarship into the designation box to see if an option pops up. Still stuck? Call the Office of Development, (800) 622-6072, and talk to someone who can help direct you to the right designation.
CAN I MAKE MY GIFT IN HONOR OF OR IN MEMORY OF SOMEONE?
Yes! At the very last stage of making your Giving Day gift online—after you’ve entered your payment information—you will have the option to make your gift In Honor Of or In Memory Of someone special.
CAN I MAKE MORE THAN ONE GIFT?
Always! You can even give more than one gift in the same transaction. Select your first designation and then use the '+ Add another' button. Select your second designation and then you’ll be able to indicate how much you’d like to give to each individual designation. The site does the math for you to give you a total at the top of the page.
NOTE: You will only count as one donor no matter how many gifts you make, however, if you are giving to multiple designations that have active matches or challenges, (or as multiple affiliations-- ie. undergrad and grad alumni) your gift will apply to each match/challenge.
DOES MY GIFT COUNT IF I ALREADY MADE A GIFT THIS YEAR?
Yes! If you have already given to Springfield College this year, thank you. If you're making a second (or third, or fourth) gift this year on Giving Day, thank you again!
Only gifts made on Giving Day count towards unlocking Giving Day matches and challenges, so your additional gift is very much appreciated.
WHAT IF I CAN’T GIVE TODAY?
We understand that the Giving Day date doesn’t work in everyone’s philanthropic schedules. If you would like for your gift to count in Giving Day but are unable to make a donation today, please call the Office of Development at 1-800-622-6072 and we can take your commitment as a pledge-to-pay and you will have until June 30, 2024 to pay your pledge.
HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO GIVE?
How much you give is entirely up to you! For students we ask for a minimum gift of $5 and for everyone else, we recommend giving at least $10 for the 10th Anniversary of Giving Day! To stretch your giving, you can also sign up for a monthly recurring gift to spread the total amount out over a set number of months.
IS MY GIFT TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Springfield College is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization, so your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. If your contribution is coming in the form of a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) or other pre-taxed giving option, you will not receive tax-deductible status for your gift as the tax was withheld upon establishment of the fund. If you have additional questions about your specific circumstances, please contact your financial advisor for advice.
HOW DO MATCHES AND CHALLENGES WORK?
Matches: A generous donor will match your gift and the gifts of others, up to a certain amount. When your gift is processed through the system, the match amount is added to the overall total at the same time.
For Challenges: Challenges release a sum of money when a certain threshold is met—either number of donors or dollars raised. Once the assigned threshold is met, the full amount of the challenge dollars is added to the overall total.
You can find a list of all the current matching and challenge gifts on the left hand side of the main Giving Day website.
HOW DO I BECOME A CHALLENGE DONOR?
If you’d like to offer a challenge gift for Giving Day you can do so in one of two ways.
HOW ELSE CAN I HELP?
Spread the word! Call, Email, Text your Springfield College friends and family. Share Giving Day social media posts on your own social channels. The more members of the Pride that are aware of Giving Day, the more we raise for our students.
If you use the ‘sharing’ buttons or link near the 'Give Now!' button, the site will automatically track your progress for you—how many donors did your efforts produce and how much money is attributed to your 'share'. You can see your results listed under the ‘Advocates’ tab.
HOW DO I SHARE?
To share the Giving Day message, you can use the social media buttons on this site, copy the link to write your own social post or include it in an email or text to a friend, or visit the ‘Sharing Tool Kit’ tab to download images and copy text for your individual outreach.
ARE THERE PRIZES FOR INDIVIDUAL DONORS?
Throughout the day there will be prizes for individual donors awarded. For a full list of prizes, please visit the ‘Prizes’ tab.
HOW DO I GET A REFUND?
To request a refund or to change the designation of your gift, please call the Office of Development at 1-800-622-6072.
I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS, HOW CAN I GET IN TOUCH?
The Office of Development will be open on Giving Day from 7:00 a.m. until midnight Eastern Time. If you have questions outside of those hours, please leave a message on the Development voicemail. If your call is not able to be returned until the following day, we will be sure to honor your wishes of counting your gift on Giving Day. 1-800-622-6072
